Milling and Paving Work in the Queens Midtown Tunnel
One tube will be closed for two weekends in April; one lane to remain open in both directions during closures
For two weekends in April, either tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed to accommodate milling and paving of the roadway. The Manhattan-bound (north) tube will be closed from Friday, April 16th at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 19th until 5 a.m. The Queens-bound (south) tube will be closed the following weekend, from Friday, April 23rd at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 26th until 5 a.m.
During each weekend tube closure, one lane will remain open in both directions in the other tube. Please note there will also be partial weekend tube closures during overnight periods for additional related work the weekends of April 30th and May 7th.
Milling and paving work means drivers will benefit from a smoother and improved driving surface, which also includes new line-striping.
Signage will be in place to alert customers and NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agents will be posted to manage traffic. Motorists should allow extra time and use an alternate route if possible.
