Save the Date—July 31—for the MHNA Street Festival!

As Murray Hill begins to emerge from the pandemic, we are looking forward to outdoor events that can safely bring our neighbors together—like The Murray Hill Neighborhood Association Street Festival! The 2021 Street Festival is tentatively planned for Saturday, July 31 on the west side of Park Avenue between 34th and 40th Streets. The date is pending approval by the Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) to hold Street Festivals and other events on the city's streets, sidewalks and pedestrian plazas. Most SAPO permits for large gatherings have been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. We will be asking all Festival attendees to wear masks and maintain standard social distancing protocols and volunteers will do the same.

The most exciting addition to this year’s Street Festival will be the debut of a series of five sculptures by artist Idriss B. along the Park Avenue Mall. These eye-catching colorful polygonal animals will inhabit Park Avenue starting July 2021. Sculptures from The Art Collection, as it is known, have been on display in multiple locations in Dubai, UAE and will also be featured in Rome and Paris. This is the first launch of the collection in the U.S. We encourage our neighbors and all city residents to come meet the animals, take photos, and tag us on Instagram @mhnanyc! Be on the lookout for more information and special events related to this exhibition.

This year’s festival will feature many of the traditional tents and activities that make our Street Festival stand out—including the book sale, bake sale, flea market, and silent auction. Our Preservation & Design Committee tent will feature walking tours of the neighborhood, our Green and Clean Committee will be signing up folks interested in adopting a block to clean, and our Membership Committee will be available to renew your membership and answer any questions you have about quality-of-life issues in the neighborhood.

We hope to see you there! Please email Ashley Petrylak at info@murrayhillnyc.org if you are interested in renting space or volunteering!
