Join Us at the MHNA Street Festival on June 1!

This year, The Murray Hill Neighborhood Association Street Festival will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 11am to 6pm, on the west side of Park Avenue between 34th and 40th Streets. Live entertainment from a variety of performers will begin at noon and continue until the Festival ends. This will be the 46th annual MHNA Street Festival and we will be celebrating with a Come Meet Your Neighbor theme!

The MHNA Street Festival has certainly grown over the years – it used to be held as a block party on 35th Street between Lexington and Madison Avenues – but you can still count on it for fantastic entertainment, opportunities to learn about our neighborhood, unique purchases from local vendors, and many chances to win some quality prizes!

Be sure to give yourself time to explore the MHNA-sponsored tables between 35th and 36th Streets that give our Festival a distinctive flavor. At our popular Book Sale, you can browse through hundreds of new and gently used books. We welcome book donations from our neighbors and will be sending information about donations and pickups in future mailings. Our Silent Auction is unmatched! Last year we had over 60 items ranging from brunch at Dock’s Oyster Bar, to a private whiskey tasting at Fine and Rare, to haircuts at Magnifique Salon, and everything in between. At the Bake Table, you will find yummy baked goods created by your very own Murray Hill volunteer bakers—you will definitely want to indulge. While you’re at the Festival, don’t forget to buy a raffle ticket at the 50/50 Drawing—the winner gets half of what we collect and the rest goes to supporting MHNA’s annual programs.

The Preservation & Design Committee will introduce you to Murray Hill neighbors of the past through performances by The Snarks, a group of accomplished local theater performers. Last year’s lineup included Andy Warhol, J.P. Morgan, British General William Howe, and of course Mary Murray! After you meet these past residents of Murray Hill, you can take a guided walking tour of Historic Murray Hill to see where these folks lived and worked. Tours will be offered throughout the day.

We encourage you to come to the Festival to visit with members of the various MHNA committees. They can speak with you about various quality of life issues in our neighborhood such as the Infrastructure Upgrade project along Second and Third Avenues, traffic issues, and pedestrian safety, and they can suggest ways to get more involved. Representatives from the Membership Committee will be in attendance to speak with anyone who wishes to join the Association, so bring some friends who are not members and we will be happy to sign them up!

This year we are making a special effort to promote Murray Hill businesses that participate in the Festival. If you or your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, please let us know by contacting info@murrayhill.org Your sponsorship package can include a table at the Festival, as well as special acknowledgements on the MHNA social media channels, in email blasts, and through an article in the MHNA newsletter to be published and distributed after the fair. This is an excellent way to advertise your business not only to your Murray Hill neighbors, but to visitors from all over the city.

We welcome all volunteers! If you would like to get more involved with the Festival (either day of or preparation for), please email Ashley Petrylak at info@murrayhillnyc.org or leave a message at 212-886-5867. We would love to work with you!
