Monday, October 29, 2018

Source: NYC Department of Transportation

The NYC Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges has closed the Park Avenue Tunnel to all traffic. While the tunnel was previously closed only during overnight hours for rehabilitation, a full closure is now required so that crews can fully power wash and abate the interior of the tunnel. The material removed from the walls and ceiling during the powerwashing process will be collected and removed from the site in accord with environmental regulations and specific protocols set forth by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

The tunnel will be re-opened once this phase of work is completed.

Vehicles will continue to access the Park AvenueViaduct from the northbound left lane on Park Avenue at East 40th Street.
