COMPANY BACKGROUND

Since being founded in 1992 by owner Keith Steier, Knockout Renovation has completed countless renovation projects throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, ranging from kitchens to the renovation of entire coops, condos and private homes. Our work has been featured on The Rachael Ray Show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, CBS-TV, The New York Times, The New York Daily News, and numerous other media outlets.

Regardless of scope, Knockout approaches each project with a foundation of strong design aesthetics and functionality, comprehensive product options, sound project management, and a commitment to craftsmanship.

DESIGN AESTHETICS

Because of its focus on Manhattan and Brooklyn residences over the past 19+ years, Knockout possesses a keen understanding of the architecture and style of homes and apartments in these communities. In fact, to check out some of Knockout’s work in Manhattan and Brooklyn, view our photo gallery.

PRODUCT OPTIONS

Knockout is one of New York’s few, true all in one design, remodeling and product resources - offering many highly regarded lines of cabinetry, countertops, appliances, lighting, tile, plumbing fixtures and more. Knockouts designers shop with you and then order selected products quickly, and without hassle. And, in the rare case when a product arrives damaged, our strong relationships with many product manufacturers enable us to rectify the situation faster than if you had purchased the product on your own and usually avoiding resulting project delays.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

At Knockout, our pride in project management equals the pride we take in the quality and creativity of our design work. Nearly 20 years in development, one of the distinctions of our project management is our implementation of progress invoicing, in which - after an initial labor and products deposit - you pay for our services only as they’re completed, rather than weeks or months before they’ve even begun.

Craftsmanship: Our carpenters have all of the experience and expertise you could hope for, but are far more than technically proficient: our carpenters are true craftsmen, who bring a well-honed design sensibility to each and every project, regardless of scope. They care about what they do and have alot of training in how to protect the surroundings of each worksite. Knockouts hiring process is extremely thorough.

EPA Lead-Safe Certified Renovator

Lead paint poisoning affects over one million children today. Adverse health effects include learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and speech delays. If not done in a lead-safe manner, renovations and repair activities that disturb lead-based paint can expose children, as well as adults, to harmful levels of lead dust.

On April 22, 2008, the EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe work practices aimed at preventing lead poisoning in children. On October 1, 2010, the rule becomes effective and firms performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified, individual renovators must be trained by an EPA-accredited training provider, and the firms and renovators must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
