Metropolitan Synagogue was established in 1959 in Murray Hill, NYC as a unique music and culture community. It meets in Scandinavia House. Metropolitan Synagogue is a reform and egalitarian congregation welcoming families, children, individuals, couples. Interfaith families, young professionals and seniors. The synagogue welcomes all to their services and events! They are a hamish and friendly extended family.

The congregation meets at Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue and East 37th Street, in the Murray Hill neighborhood of New York City.
HISTORY
For over sixty years, Metropolitan Synagogue has used music as a powerful vessel through which one can pray and bring together a community, while keeping the richness of the Jewish culture and religion alive.
The congregation celebrates cultural diversity and its Jewish heritage, as expressed through performance, the written word, and inspirational educational programming.
SERVICES
Please drop by for one of the monthly Shabbat services. Their Shabbat services are held Friday evenings at 6pm at Scandinavia House, 55 Park Avenue in Murray Hill, Manattan. Check the synagogue website for exact and up-to-date dates and times.
Every year the congregation hosts the public Chanukah menorah lighting each night of Chanukah at 5:15pm on Park Avenue and East 37th Street in Murray Hill, NYC.
HEBREW HOME STUDY AND ADULT LEARNING PROGRAMS
Hebrew Home Study allows students to prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah in the comfort of their own home with a private teacher who is a rabbi. The program’s curriculum is specialized, dynamic and tailored to the educational and spiritual needs of each student. One-on-one or small groups. For 7-13 year olds.
Adult Classes and Study for Conversion to Judaism: Study a range of Jewish topics with a private teacher who is a rabbi to prepare for conversion to Judasim.
Adult Study and B’nei Mitzvah Class: The Metropolitan Synagogue can’t quite turn you into a thirteen-year-old again, but they can prepare you for the Bar/Bat mitzvah experience! Visit their website for topics and tentative schedule. For three people or more.
Custom Crafted Executive Study In Your Office: Jewish Torah / text study sessions catering to your interests--in your office for one hour, one-on-one sessions on a variety of topics.
SHABBAT & HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES
Congregational and Family Shabbat and Holiday Experiences: once a month on Friday nights from 6-7 pm.
Shabbat Dinner Club for Unaffiliated Young Singles and Young Families that will meet monthly in people’s homes and in restaurants, all this in the spirit of bringing Judaism directly to you.
