Description
Community Education Councils (CECs) are education policy advisory bodies responsible for, among other things, reviewing and evaluating their district’s educational programs, approving zoning lines, and holding public hearings on certain matters. Each Community Education Council (CEC) consists of 11 voting members who provide hands-on leadership and support for their district's public schools. Nine of the members are parents of children in pre-K through 8th grade, attending a district school or a pre-K program offered by a district school. These members are elected by parents of children attending these schools and programs. Learn more about the CEC election at

The applications for the election as well as voting takes place on NYC Schools account (NYCSA). This is a website that parents can use to access a lot of important information about their students. Parents who wish to participate in the election must have an active NYCSA account with all their students linked via a creation code that is provided by your parent coordinator. If you havent yet activated your NYCSA account you can follow the guide and contact your parent coordinator to request the creation code. Create NYCSA account at mystudent.nyc.
