ABOUT THE ARTIST
Edmundo Ramirez, soloist, violist
Originally from Costa Rica, Edmundo Tomas Ramirez is a New York musician who studied the viola, but also plays violin, viola d’amore, baroque violin and viola, Sitar and Electronic Music including iPad, iPhone and computer. Among other things, he writes blogs in music topics. Mr. Ramirez’s performances have taken him around the world, to Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York, Bellas Artes Hall in México, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Parco de la Musica in Italy, The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The National Theater of Costa Rica, and Suntory Hall in Japan. He has played with the Absolute Ensemble, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Fine Arts String Quartet, the Bremen Kammerphilharmonie, the Menninger Hofkapelle Orchestra, Voronezh Philharmonie in Russia, the Jupiter Symphony Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of the Americas and the National Symphony of Costa Rica.
His exploration of musical activities and styles has led to playing the Baroque viola, viola d’amore, and violin with both The Rebel and Dorian Baroque Orchestras and at the Bach Festival in Philadelphia.
