Saturday, December 2, street closure at East 37th Street at Queens Midtown Tunnel

Friday, December 1, 2017

Saturday, December 2, 2017, in addition to the regular weekend tube closure for ongoing Sandy Restoration (10pm Friday through 6am Monday), on Saturday there will be a partial traffic closure on East 37th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues, near the North Tube of the tunnel.
The street closure is necessary to accommodate a crane operation to install a Flood Door at the portal, part of the future storm damage mitigation and resiliency plan.
Two-way traffic will operate in the other tube, as is normal, however, due to the East 37th Street partial closure, motorists are strongly advised to plan additional travel time or use an alternate route. NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agents will be assigned, as well as Bridge and Tunnel law enforcement.

The MTA Bridges & Tunnels department appreciates the patience of neighbors and customers as they restore and reinforce the 77-year-old tunnel.
