Queens Midtown Tunnel Restoration Project Update - September 6, 2017

Following the summer hiatus on daytime closures, which was a mandate to alleviate the Amtrak/Penn Station service curtailment, the QMT will resume full weekend tube closures starting Friday, September 8, 2017.

Sandy Restoration construction activities will continue to require the closure of one tube on weeknights, Monday to Thursday from 9pm through 6am.  In addition, on weekends, one tube will be closed Friday from 10pm until Monday at 6am. During these periods one lane of traffic in either direction will operate in the other tube.

The weekend of September 9-10, there is specialized work in both tubes, so the closure will switch between tubes several times, with intermittent periods of both tubes remaining open; this is an exceptional occurrence, and hereafter through summer 2018 one tube will remain closed Friday night through Monday morning.

As always, the QMT Sandy Restoration Project team appreciates your patience as they progress toward completion of this critically important Sandy restoration project!
