34th Street Select Bus Service Update Spring 2017

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Improvements have been made on 34th Street from Lexington Avenue to the East River, including three new bus bulbs, new bus shelters, added greenery, freshly painted bus lanes, and a new sewer line built by the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and New York City of Environmental Protection (DEP).

Together, these improvements help all riders board the bus more easily and add to the visual aesthetic and comfort of 34th Street with wider sidewalks and new trees.

Leaning Bars are a new piece of DOT-provided street furniture that supplement benches and can be used by those who may not find sitting
comfortable. They add a place to rest while allowing space for pedestrians to pass.
