Queens Midtown Tunnel (QMT) Construction tube closure update June 10-12

Saturday, June 10, 2017

RE: Sandy Restoration weekend tube closure at the Queens Midtown Tunnel, which occurs every Friday night from 10pm through Monday morning at 6am.

Normally one tube (usually the North Tube) is closed for the duration; this weekend, due to the need for specialized work in the South Tube, the closure will switch from North to South Tube on Saturday 6/10 from 7am to 10pm, then resume in the North Tube for Sunday through Monday at 6am.

There will always be one lane open in either direction, as two-way traffic runs in the open tube.

Please note, the roadway rehab of the Manhattan exit plaza (unrelated to Sandy Restoration), currently requiring the right Downtown exit lane’s closure, is nearing completion ahead of schedule, and activity in that area is in preparation for final milling and paving in the next couple of weeks.

We’ll keep you posted on that progress, and look forward to opening up that closed workzone which will help traffic flow better.
