Park Avenue is for Everyone!

The Seasonal Lighting on Park Avenue this year from 34th Street to 40th Street was by far the most beautiful and impressive that Murray Hill has ever witnessed. Everyone who lives and works in Murray Hill, and those who merely pass through, enjoyed the brilliant display. Never before has Murray Hill had such beautiful malls, and it is all because of the generosity and support of civic-minded individuals and businesses who believe in and understand the value of Park Avenue to Murray Hill and the support of the buildings that line Park Avenue. They are the Patrons of Park Avenue. With their backing, we are able to provide many services and amenities.

During the last year, P.O.P.A. has been responsible for:

  • Three seasonal plantings beginning with the spring tulips and daffodils, followed by the brilliant display of red begonias, and ending the season with colorful chrysanthemums
  • The repair and painting of the historic fencing on the Malls
  • Daily volunteer cleanings of the malls during the growing season
  • Weekly professional maintenance of the beds and the trees
  • The spectacular seasonal lighting in December

All of this is very expensive, but it all provides a better quality of life for the entire Murray Hill community.

Our 2016 Capital Funding Campaign began in March. As you, your business or your building develop your budget for 2016 and for future years, won’t you please consider joining your neighbors as a BENEFACTOR, a GARDENER, or a TREE SPONSOR? Your full support is vital – more so this year than ever, as we face the challenges of the removal and replacement of dead shrubberies and trees, the cost of additional watering during the hot weather, battling the plague of the Japanese Kudzu which, without treatment, will take over the malls and kill the ivy and the shrubs, etc. To see what progress has been made on the malls, please take a look at the following link ( from the Patrons of Park Avenue website to see what our malls looked like before the formation of P.O.P.A. Without everyone’s full co-operation, our beloved Park Avenue will look like this again.

Please consider supporting our beloved Park Avenue Malls in Murray Hill! You can sponsor a monthly cleaning or become a tree sponsor for only $500. You can become a Patron for $1,000 or a Benefactor for $2,500. When you stop to think about it, for all of the beauty and value that Park Avenue brings to Murray Hill, that is quite a bargain.

The Park Avenue Malls are here for everyone. Join us in making certain that it remains the prettiest and the best-maintained in the city.

Happy Spring!
